Meditation Day Retreat
A Chance To Learn, Explore & Deepen Our Meditation Practice
Dirk De Klerk

The day will be lead by Dirk de Klerk, a long standing student of Ringu Tulku, who completed a four year secluded meditation retreat at the Samye Ling Tibetan Monastery Scotland, and has been teaching Buddhist Meditation since 1994. He founded Bodhicharya London in 1999.
Dirk will help us relax and explore four different approaches to meditation:
1. Foundations and Shamatha - Preparing the mind for meditation and stabilising the mind by doing calm abiding meditation.
2. Vipassana - We do contemplations to establish what is meant by ‘emptiness’. Then, through further contemplations, we gain confidence in the Buddhist teachings regarding ‘self’.
3. Stillness Movement and Awareness - We follow the instructions by Mipham Rinpoche in his ‘ Pith Instructions On Mahamudra’.
4. Silent Practise - We deepen our practise.

We will be taking comfort breaks during the day and we encourage people to look after themselves. There are lovely gardens at our venue should you want some fresh air and time in nature. Meditation cushions will be available but if you have your own feel free to bring it with you, along with any blankets you want for your own comfort .
Please bring a packed lunch or a dish to share.

Coming for the whole day will make the most of this opportunity as each practice builds on the last. But feel free to come for just the morning or afternoon session if you prefer. To keep disturbance to a minimum, please arrive before the start of the morning session or during the lunch time period. Thank you.

The Illusion Of Separateness
Public Talk
RINGU TULKU RINPOCHE

We think of ourselves as separate individuals, and our individuality is often a reason to celebrate - and why not ! What a delightfully diverse group of beings we are. However sometimes we can feel very isolated, lonely, and when we are separated from what and those we love, we can suffer greatly. From a Buddhist perspective, us individuals are never separate and this illusion of separateness is at the heart of our suffering. When we deeply understand this, this realisation can be truly liberating!

Love & Attachment
RINGU TULKU RINPOCHE

- A Buddhist Perspective
In our western world, the words 'love' and 'attachment' are often used synonymously. However, love and attachment from a Buddhist perspective have two very different meanings. The Buddha taught us that one leads to greater happiness, the other to greater suffering. During this years visit, Rinpoche will discuss the differences, and how we might create greater happiness and peace in our lives by cultivating one and diminishing the other.
